Dark
Seed is an original script by Philip Brophy, developed with
producer Fiona Eagger. A contemporary psychological drama, it traces
the interconnections between 3 women and the dark gender undercurrents
which shape their lives and personalities.
Script development for the project was received in two stages between
1997 and 1998 - firstly from Film Victoria and secondly from the Screen
Producer Association of Australia. Each funding was directed towards
workshops with actors after which redrafts were undertaken, followed
by readings. Both readings took place at the Malthouse, Melbourne.
Actors for the first Film Victoria workshop/reading were: (to be entered).
Actors for the second SPAA workshop/reading were: (to be entered).
For
the second workshop, a series of musical sketches were developed to
reflect the psychological make-up of the three women. These sketches
were employed both in the the workshop and the reading.
